Let Your Customers See Their Canvas Print Before They Pay
Customers ordering custom canvas prints can now see exactly how their image wraps around the edges in an interactive 3D preview - before they commit.
A customer uploads a landscape photo for a 24x36 canvas wrap. They hit "Add to Cart." Three days later, the canvas arrives. The wrap cuts into the sky on both sides. Important parts of the composition are lost around the edges. They request a refund.
This happens constantly with canvas wraps, because the edge treatment is invisible until the product is in your hands.
The edge wrap problem
Canvas wraps fold the image around stretcher bars - typically 1.5 inches deep. That means 1.5 inches of image on every side gets pulled around the edge and becomes part of the side view, not the front.
For a landscape with subjects near the edges, this can crop faces, cut text, or lose important compositional elements. The customer had no way to see this coming. Your product page showed a flat rectangle.
What the customer sees with a 3D preview
When a customer uploads their photo on a WrapStudio-enabled product page, they see their image rendered on a photorealistic 3D canvas. They can:
- Drag to rotate the canvas and inspect the edges from any angle
- See exactly how the image wraps - gallery wrap, mirror wrap, or solid color edges
- Check the depth of the stretcher bars (0.75" or 1.5" standard)
- Zoom in to see the canvas texture on the surface
- Switch between edge treatment options if your product supports multiple
Setting it up on Shopify
Install WrapStudio from the Shopify App Store. Go to the Customizer Rules section and create a new rule. Select the product (or collection) that sells canvas wraps. Choose "Canvas Wrap" as the product type. Configure the default settings - depth, edge treatment, dimensions.
Then open your Shopify theme editor, navigate to a product page template, and add the WrapStudio Customizer app block. Save. Your customers now see their uploads in 3D.
The whole process takes about 5 minutes.
Beyond canvas
The same approach works for every product type where physical form matters. Framed prints with matboard and glazing. Metal prints with brushed aluminum surfaces. Acrylic blocks with glass-like depth. Each type renders with accurate materials and dimensions so the customer knows exactly what they're ordering.
WrapStudio is free to start. No credit card required.
