Selling Framed Art Online? Let Customers Explore Every Detail in 3D

Gallery stores and art sellers can now showcase framed prints with interactive 3D viewers. Customers rotate, zoom, and inspect the frame, matboard, and glazing.

An art gallery lists a limited-edition framed print at $450. The product page has two flat photos - a front view and a close-up of the frame corner. The customer likes the piece but can't tell how the frame looks from an angle, how deep the matboard is, or whether the glazing has a reflection.

At $450, hesitation wins. They close the tab.

The gallery store problem

If you sell ready-made framed art (not custom uploads), your challenge is different from POD stores. You don't need a file uploader. You need a way to showcase your existing products with the level of detail that justifies premium pricing.

Two flat photos don't do that. A video helps but is expensive to produce for every piece. What you need is an interactive 3D viewer that lets the customer explore the product themselves.

Before
A $450 framed print listing with two flat photos. Customers can see the front and a frame corner detail. They can't judge the matboard depth, frame profile, or how the glazing catches light. Hesitation leads to abandoned carts.
After
Same listing with an interactive 3D viewer. Customers drag to rotate, zoom into the frame grain, see the double matboard layers, and notice how the glazing reflects ambient light. The craftsmanship is visible. The piece sells.

Showcase products

WrapStudio has two modes. The Customizer mode is for customer uploads. Theater mode is for merchant-curated content - you create the 3D view, and it displays on the product page as an interactive viewer.

Here's how it works:

  • Open Showcase products in WrapStudio
  • Select the Shopify product you want to create a 3D view for
  • Choose the product type (Framed Print, Canvas Wrap, Metal Print, etc.)
  • Launch the designer - configure the frame style, matboard, glazing, and dimensions
  • Save the Showcase product. The 3D presentation is now linked to that Shopify product.
  • Add the WrapStudio 3D Viewer app block to your product page template

The 3D viewer appears automatically on the assigned product page. Customers can rotate it, zoom in, and inspect every detail. No customer upload needed.

Works for any product type

Theater mode isn't limited to frames. You can create pre-made 3D views for canvas wraps, metal prints, acrylic blocks, LED frames - any of the 16 supported product types. If you sell curated collections, this is the feature that turns your product pages into a virtual gallery.

WrapStudio is free to start. No credit card required.
